INLINE SPEED SKATING
Pattison's West is home to Pattison's Team Xtreme, an inline speed skating team that is a force in the US racing scene. They are coached by Darin Pattison, who took over for his father Mike Pattison in 2013.
Mike Pattison started coaching in Spokane, Wa. in 1964. When he moved to Federal Way he continued to coach and started Pattison's Speed Club. The team quickly became #1 in the Pacific Northwest in 1984 and has won the Northwest Regional High Point Trophy every year since. In 9 of the last ten years (8 years in a row) Pattison's Team Xtreme has finished #1 in the nation, competing against up to 80 other teams. The team has produced numerous National Champions, National Record holders, World Championship medalist and Olympic Champions over the past 37 years. The team ranges in age from 5 to 65 years of age. The team competes in races all over the world. We skates three to four times a week from October through July. Last year our skaters traveled to Virginia, Florida, Nebraska, Colorado, California, Oregon, North Carolina, Georgia, Idaho and even Columbia, Germany, France, China. and Barcelona, Spain for the Inline World Championships.
Team Xtreme Olympians
Apolo Anton Ohno, who has the record for having the most medals in the Winter Olympics history with 8, and JR Celski, also a 3 time Olympic Medalist and is a current World Record holder in three events. Both skated and trained for 10+ years at Pattison's West. More recently, Joey Mantia (finished 4th in Peyoung Chang) and Aaron Tran also also skated for Team Xtreme. Tran competed alongside JR Celski in the 2018 Winter Olympic games Mens Relay for Team USA. We are extremely proud of our former teammates and will always be rooting them on!
Federal Way skating center is Olympic speedskaters' second home
From legend Apolo Ohno to newcomer Aaron Tran, Pattison's West has become a breeding ground for Olympic speedskaters.
